Merion Station neighbors Philadelphia and is one of the many towns located on the Main Line. Merion Station and locally named Merion and Merion Park share the same zip code but Merion Station is commonly known for its easy access to the Merion Train Station and is close to General Wayne Park. Merion’s The General Wayne Inn and Friends Meeting House are on the National Register of Historical Places. The main commercial area of Merion Station is located along Montgomery Avenue and it includes restaurants, gift shops and other stores. Local landmarks, some of which are more than a half century old, are well known and have reputations that extend well beyond Merion Station’s limits, most notably: Hymie’s Merion Delicatessen, The Tavern Restaurant, Murray’s Delicatessen, Babis’s Pharmacy, Bob Wark’s Liberty Service Station, Bala Pizza, and the Township Cleaners. The Paoli/Thorndale line offers easy transportation and a short ride to Philadelphia.
